It’s Time!

Jesus has called us to do many things: heal the sick, raise the dead, make disciples, plant seeds, reap the harvest, etc.; he has a bunch of work for us!  It’s good work, but it’s work!

Prayer and fasting are the best ways to prepare, and every day so. But I feel that the hiccup many of us face is knowing “which work is mine?” “What do I focus on?” “Is this my gifting?”  And we will wait until Jesus comes back if we aren’t careful to get going!

The power and the promise of making disciples of all nations, despite how prepared we feel, is found is found in our “Go”.  Go-spel!

Now, if you are currently dreaming a dream with the Lord, it is good to wait for the Lord’s confirmation of that dream; you don’t want to jump into anything too quickly. But dreams of the Lord are merely vehicles by which his work is carried out, beautiful creations that you and the Lord pencil out and implement to bring his kingdom to earth. A dream in the making should not keep you from the the good work the Lord has for you today!

Side note: some of the best testimonies are found when someone was in transition, still waiting for their dream to come to life. Like Joseph interpreting dreams in prison. Joseph had dreams of being a great ruler where he would have influence, power and resources to bless the world and his people. But that didn’t stop him from having testimonies “today.”

He was working with the Lord, and on his giftings, when he interpreted dreams while sitting in prison. Something to do with the time I suppose!

Simply put – the work the Lord has given us today is not contingent on us feeling prepared, or being in the perfect season; we fulfill the commission today in any place, season, or time.

Out our front door is either the Great Commission, or it’s Great Expectations, where we are Ms. Havisham, growing ever-older, waiting first to get married before life will ever start.  Waiting before [INSERT dream, plan, hope, condition] will come to pass.

Whether you meet in a church building, a living room, a backyard or elsewhere, our job is simple: bring them all home. And once they are home, disciple them into full maturity. Repeat process forever.

Use your dreams from the Lord to create massive dragnets! But if your net is still being sewn together, figuratively speaking, grab a pole and start fishing!

Our mission is to make disciples of all nations: get them home and disciple them! Jesus told us how (e.g. heal the sick) to get to their hearts but home is where…

Bring Home into People

We must be intentional in our going out help the unbeliever by taking more of the burden to meet them where they live and work; to give them eternity in that moment, today. While we should invite all who are willing to come and experience his church, it’s extremely disappointing inviting people to church who still never end up coming Home.

Go into all of the world and preach to every creature.

Be Home for People

That what we have, and continually desire, is what we are to give: all believers long to belong, and long for home. For those coming in, and are in already, we will choose to be “their people” before they ever come to a (physical) home.

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

Host Home to serve People

Just like a body with a spirit, a a home for a spiritual people. We must host and serve people well, while always first serving the Lord. It’s all about welcoming the Good One into every act of worship, praise and fellowship; then inviting everyone else into it.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common.
